Each villa has a large private swimming pool and all now-a-days facilities. Shalimar is fully staffed including two excellent cooks and a manager on the site for all our inquiries and maximum of service. Shalimar , which means “nest of love, comprises the 6-bedroom villa KALIMA, the 4-bedroom villa MAKANDA, and the 2-bedroom CANTIK. You may rent any one of the villas on a individual basis or you may choose a combination or large groups may wish to rent the whole complex with its total of 12 bedrooms, accommodating twenty four guests.

Accommodation

Villa Bangkuang is comprised of a main two-storey main building, an open-sided lounging and dining pavilion, and a separate two-bedroom guest pavilion. The style is calming, with a fresh cool décor; the modern fittings, fixtures and clean crisp design is harmonised with antique artifacts.

Flanked by ornamental ponds and guarded by a pair of griffin fountain-statues, the living pavilion overlooks the pool and is shaded from both the morning and afternoon sun. It is tastefully furnished with a dining table and chairs, seagrass sofas and ottomans. The comfort of the guests is ensured by yielding cushions and paddle ceiling fans. A hidden office-styled library is fitted with shelves and a desk. A compact, well-stocked bar and fully equipped, homely kitchen with glassless windows provides all the necessary dining and entertainment amenities.

There are four spacious air-conditioned bedrooms at Villa Bangkuang, each with an en-suite bathroom, a DVD player and a safe deposit box. The master suite, complete with full-length balcony, covers the whole of the upper floor, overlooking the garden and rice fields stretching infinitely towards the ocean. Characterised by a polished parquet floor and a soaring roof, the romantic bedroom is furnished with a king-size, four-poster bed swathed in snowy netting. Floor-to-ceiling glass windows slide open on three sides, presenting guests with the choice of air-conditioned comfort or a semi-alfresco sleeping experience, cooled by a ceiling fan and lulled by the distant sound of the waves. The room is equipped with a satellite channel TV and DVD player, and the large adjoining dressing area is fitted with wardrobes and storage space. The guest pavilion is situated some distance from the main pavilion and pool, affording significant privacy. Two self-contained bedrooms, with king-size beds and open-air en-suite bathrooms, can accommodate four adults. Timber walls, window seats, lazy chairs and cushions create a cosy, chalet-like mood; glass doors open to a shared verandah, which literally overhangs the gently swaying fields of rice. Fly screens ensure bug-free nights, while the gorgeous bathrooms feature dreamy tubs, pebbled floors and rainshowers that are open to the sky.

The garden complements the native vegetation behind the pavilions and the dazzling rice fields to the front with a smooth, manicured lawn, where the 17 x 5 metre swimming pool appears to overflow into infinity. Sunloungers and shady umbrellas, together with an indulgent poolside bar, make this a very relaxing area in which to hang out. An old rudder from a traditional jukung fishing boat makes an interesting sculpture, while a flowering shrub adds a striking splash of colour. The coconut grove garden, dotted with frangipani blossoms, extends to a narrow brook, traversed by a wooden bridge, which separates the guest pavilion from the common area. A shaded platform, known as a ‘bale’ and used for lounging and chatting in a Balinese village, is here raised to new heights—treetop level, in fact. This elevated, thatched pavilion is open to cooling tropical breezes on the hottest of days, and affords a sweeping vista of the rice fields, mountains, and sea. In another corner of the garden a traditional ‘jineng’ rice barn presents the perfect spot for a pampering indulgent massage.

Mundri, the cook, is trained in the preparation of both local and international cuisine, and is responsible for all the market shopping, in accordance with the needs and the whims of the guests. Iluh fulfils the housekeeping duties while also taking care of the daily laundry.  Wayan and Pak Agus are the night security guards. Their duties are to guard the villa to ensure your security and safety. Dewa is the gardener; he has looked after the gardens since the villa was first built. Finally, Komang is the pool attendant. 

Baby-sitting and massage services and the facilities of a car and driver are also available on request at an extra charge. The team also includes an in-house concierge service; Kadek Edu, with her quiet efficiency and profound knowledge of the locale, is responsible for booking restaurants, organising tours, daytrips and ticketing. Our estate sits in a large tropical garden of more than 2000m2 and consists of a two-story waterfront house with three en suite bedrooms, a living area, kitchen, dining room, media room and a traditional Balinese guest pavilion with two en-suite bedrooms. There are two swimming pools: an infinity-edge pool and our own little “Olympic” lap indoor/outdoor pool which has a unique feature of being visible through the glass floor on the main waterfront house.

The Shore can accommodate up to ten guests.

Beachfront Suites

The Shore was designed by acclaimed tropical architect V. Martin who used a combination of innovative contemporary shapes, sleek designs and traditional methods of construction. As a result, the blending of global chic and tropical feel finds its way in every aspect of the property.

Each of the 3 bedrooms, located in the main house, faces the ocean and offers a perfect vantage point to watch local Jukungs perpetuate the traditional way of fishing in Bali. The stylishly decorated rooms are constructed of native Teak and Bangkarai woods and finished in dark natural hues that harmonize in the tropical sunshine. The rooms feature generous 3m by 2.5m king sized beds, are air-conditioned and offer en suite bathrooms. The Shore is one of the few truly beachfront villas in Bali.

Ocean View Suites

Located behind the main house, the L-shaped guest pavilion is a traditional Balinese house, which was completely remodeled to modern standards. It has 2 bedrooms, similar in size and decoration giving a view of the ocean, the 30-meter long lap pool and the lush tropical garden.

Each bedroom is air-conditioned, with its own sitting area, and has an open-air shower room.

Living Room

Floor-to-ceiling glass windows of the living and dining room areas provide a panoramic view of the Bali beachfront and ocean. At night, the glowing waters of the slim outdoor/indoor lap pool crossing below the lounge, a unique feature of the house, meet the ocean front infinity-edge pool to create a spectacular scene throughout the house. Dining Room

The dining room can sit up to ten people and offers the possibility to dine al fresco or in the comfort of an all air-conditioned space easily set-up with sliding glass and wood panels. Location

Ombak Luwung is a completely private, self-contained villa right on Canggu Beach, which is midway between the busy Kuta district and the important Balinese temple, Tanah Lot. Just 300 meters up the beach, you will find one of the top surf breaks in Bali – Echo Beach. Canggu itself is a quiet, Balinese village, but we are only a 20 minute’s drive from the up-market shopping and dining districts of Legian and Seminyak. Half an hours’ drive up north, you will find the Meridien Resort and Nirvana Golf Course, frequently described as the most beautiful golf course in the world. Accommodation

Ombak Luwung comprises 5 bedrooms, each with its own ensuite bathroom. The master bedroom faces the sea and connects via a bridge to a separate bathing pavilion surrounded by a quiet pond. The master bedroom and the second front bedroom also face the deck and 17 meter infinity pool. A third bedroom connects to a lush private garden with a massage pavilion and outdoor shower.

Set in the midst of a large pavilion, the other two bedrooms make up the villa’s only two-story structure. The upstairs provides expansive views out to sea while the downstairs doubles as a study/media room.

Facilities

Ombak Luwung consists of five separate buildings, which include five bedrooms, each with its own ensuite bathroom, as well as a dining pavilion and a massage pavilion. The large, open-air living room in the traditional wantilan design looks out to the 17 meter, infinity-edge swimming pool, heated spa, and finally, the incredible sea view. Additionally, our beautifully carved, antique lumbung (rice house) is perfectly situated to provide a private retreat to enjoy the fantastic sunsets over the Indian Ocean.

The study/media room houses a small library of books, movies, music, and games, while DVDs, CDs, and satellite TV can be enjoyed in all of the bedrooms. The villa is fully equipped with an intercom system, as well as broadband wireless internet and Ethernet access.

Events

Ombak Luwung is an ideal venue for events such as weddings and family gatherings. Small functions of up to 15 persons can be handled by the villa staff. Functions of more than 15 persons will require additional staff and are subject to rental charges.

Events of more than 20 persons will require the purchase of an entertainment license from the local village authorities and may require the hiring of an event coordinator. Our proximity to several Balinese temples manes that we may be asked to observe noise restrictions or curfews.

The villa is set on a gorgeous sprawling property with mature gardens, and looks out across a coconut grove and broad manicured lawn to the beach and the Indian Ocean. A large swimming pool overlooks the lawn, with an adjacent sauna building. At the far end of the lawn next to the beach is a well-kept tennis court, complete with referee stands. Near the kitchen is large vegetable and herb garden with fruit trees. Flowering trees and vines shade the house, which is surrounded by a moat of sparklingly clean water filled with ornamental fish.
 

Dining Room

The open plan of the ground floor allows the house to be approached from several directions, which lead to a large, long dining pavilion parallel to the beach. A massive teak table with specially designed teak chairs seats up to 14 people. Clusters of antique Dutch oil lamps have been fitted for soft electric light. The fully-equipped professional kitchen is set off to one side, reached by a small bridge over the moat.
 

Ground Floor Living Room

The open-plan ground floor living room is a very large space with clusters of sitting areas furnished with sofas, teak tables, plump rattan armchairs and Asian art objects. Antique Chinese and Javanese cupboards discretely enclose electronic entertainment equipment. There is an imported billiard table and an adjacent guest bathroom. The floors are marble, and the massive pillars are of polished dark ironwood, creating an atmosphere of shaded luxury punctuated by sunlight. Views to the ocean are framed by rich tropical vegetation. Above the sound of the surf one hears the song of birds in the nearby gardens. ? ?A handsome ironwood staircase leads to the second floor. The top of the stairs can be closed off with an ironwood gate.
 

Second floor Living Room

This broad wooden deck overlooking the gardens and ocean consists of several sitting areas furnished with Chinese bed-sofas furnished in rich Indian textiles, and a pair of sunning beds that function as massage tables. Under the eaves is stored a projection screen which can be lowered to create a home cinema, complete with projection equipment. An uninterrupted wooden walkway completely encircles the second floor, providing access to each of the three second-storey bedrooms.

Bedrooms

There are six principal bedrooms and a junior bedroom, affording sleeping for as many as 14 adults and 2 children. Each bedroom is air-conditioned with ensuite bathroom. The floors and ceilings of the bedrooms are of handsome polished ironwood, and each bedroom has at least one glass wall overlooking the ocean or gardens of the estate. ? ?The rooms are furnished with white draperies, rich oriental carpets, antique Chinese prints and other lovingly collected art pieces. All the beds are draped with gossamer white mosquito nets with subtle white flower embroidery. All the bedrooms are equipped with large writing tables, flat screen television with Indovision cable service, sound systems, refrigerators and mini-bar, and have ample wardrobe storage. Most rooms have a safety deposit box. ? ?The bathrooms have caramel-coloured marble walls and floors, with large, high screened windows to allow circulation and keep out insects. Most bathrooms have double vanity sinks, double showers, a large bathtub, and bidets. Basic toiletries are provided.
 

First Bed Room

The First Bedroom, just off the ground floor living, has a brilliantly carved and painted traditional Balinese doorway which opens to reveal two queen-sized canopy beds furnished in soft blue Indian cotton.

Second Bed Room

Tucked away at the far end of the ground floor is the pretty Second Bedroom, with a veranda overlooking an ornamental pond. Two queen-sized beds are covered with textiles in a palette of soft red hues.
 

Third Bedroom

(First Master Bedroom/The King Suite)
On the second floor, down a walkway to the left of the staircase, is the principal master bedroom, walled on three sides by sliding glass windows for views to the gardens and the ocean. The fourth wall is hung with a valuable ikat weaving. The huge bed is furnished with a finely dyed Indian cotton bedcover. A large teak desk looks out over the garden to the sea. Fine oriental carpets surround the bed, and an elaborate Chinese-style sofa from Java functions as a day bed. Antique Chinese prints add to the serenity of the room. Off the bedroom leading to the large ensuite bathroom is an ample dressing room with especially extensive wardrobe space.

Fourth Bedroom

(The White Bedroom)
The entrance to this bedroom is framed with a carved, painted and gilded Balinese door. Two queen-sized beds dressed in white embroidered cotton give this room a special atmosphere of lightness. The artwork is colourful and playful. There is a handsome standing wardrobe and, as in the other bedrooms, a flat-screen television and a teak work table. A sliding glass door opens next to the entrance of the Fifth Bedroom, making it handy for young children.
 

Fifth Bedroom

(Second Master Bedroom/The Queen Suite)
The second master bedroom is on the opposite wing from the principal master bedroom, with a balcony leading from the second floor living room. This bedroom is distinguished by a magnificent carved teak Chinese-style super king-sized (240cm) canopy bed furnished with white Indian lace and backed with a rare Javanese batik wall hanging depicting forest animals. Fine Chinese prints and oriental carpets contribute to the quiet, luxurious tone of the room.
 

Sixth Bedroom

(The Java Room)
The sixth bedroom, forming the second storey over the garage and utilities area and surrounded by a broad wooden deck, was added in 2006 and designed in keeping with the original house. The large suite has an impressive carved wooden wall from Java with a concealed door into the luxurious ensuite bathroom. Glass walls open to a large balcony overlooking the gardens.

Seventh Bedroom

(The Office Bedroom)
A seventh, smaller bedroom was recently built above the villa’s office. The Dutch colonial-style carved canopy bed is furnished in rich Asian textiles and white mosquito netting. There is a standing wardrobe and, as in the other bedrooms, a work table, flat screen television, and a marble-lined ensuite bathroom. The balcony has a pleasant sitting area overlooking the gardens.

Pool and Sauna

The large swimming pool has wide sunning areas of soft white limestone, and is furnished with numerous sun loungers and two string hammocks.
There is a spacious sauna hut built of tropical hardwoods with a traditional Balinese thatched roof. One-way glass ensures privacy while providing views to the ocean.
 

Tennis court and gardens

The tennis court, with a concrete surface to assure a permanently perfect surface, is set on a slightly elevated plane near the beach. Foliage screens the court for privacy.
Two relaxation pavilions are ideal for meditation or yoga. The beautifully tended lawn, planted with coconut trees, provides quiet space for strolling. It can easily be set up with tables and marquees to become a grand and festively romantic space for entertaining.

Menus and Dining

Villa Gajah Putih is blessed with two in-house chefs. After many years of hosting guests from all over the world, they have developed a wide range of culinary expertise. The specialties of the villa, Indonesian and Italian cuisine, reflect both its location and personal character. An organic garden on the property provides home-grown organic vegetables and herbs.
 
All purchased ingredients come from high-quality supermarkets and delicatessens. Shopping is done by the villa staff, with a service surcharge of 30% added to grocery receipts. Whenever possible, the staff will shop for fresh ingredients from the most primary source, such as seafood from the pre-dawn fish market in the beachside village of Jimbaran.
 
Special gastronomic features abound. The staff excel at homemade pasta and desserts, and will bake fresh bread on request. The villa also makes its own ice cream and gelato, using Italian techniques and fresh tropical fruits.

Manipura

This stunning master bedroom accessed via a wooden bridge over a Balinese pond offers guests the ultimate of romance. This bedroom represents a combination of the yellow Solar-Plexus and the Crown Chakras, linking self esteem, intuition and a connection with spirit. Its graceful boat-shaped curves, combined with a high ceiling and 12 metre squared space graciously houses a 2.3 metre-wide bed and royal mosquitto net canape.

This master bedroom features handmade soft furnishings, a large dressing area with fitted wardrobes, air conditioning as well as a private terrace. The large ensuite semi open-air bathroom incorporates a slate paved floor and a bamboo ceiling, and is bordered by a lovely garden. This romantic bathroom is fitted with a huge hollowed out river rock tub, twin river rock washbasins, and a standing rain shower.

Sahasrana

This large air-conditioned bedroom follows a violet color theme, representative of the Crown Chakra, meaning oneness with the infinite – peace and wisdom. The room is furnished with a super-king rattan bed and built-in wardrobes. The ensuite bathroom is fitted with a terrazzo bathtub, river rock washbasin, and a walk-in rainshower. A TV room is positioned next to the bedroom and creates the feeling of a large suite. There are stunning panoramic views from the terrace. This is an ideal family area as it is linked to the bedroom next door by a charming bridge.

Vissudha

This air-conditioned bedroom has an oval roof reminiscent of the hull of a ship, with sliding glass doors at front and windows that wrap around the sides. It is furnished with a king size bed and follows a blue color theme representing the Throat Chakra and the expression of truth through the power of the spoken word. A round window behind the bed looks into the dressing room, and behind this is a bathroom with a recycled ironwood floor. The bathroom is fitted with an over sized terrazzo bathtub, a glass walled shower, and a river rock basin on a tamarind wood vanity stand. There is a sweet balcony at the front for private relaxation.

Living Area

One enters Taman Ahimsa into a boat-like shaped bamboo façade living area with comfortable interior design of recycled wood furniture and Indonesian batik pillows. It is connected to a large dining area. This gracious living area is located in the main two-storey pavilion, which presides over the entire property.

There are two sitting areas facing the gardens and sea, one is an elevated section with two antique daybeds, a chair and a coffee table, while at the lower level are two long built-in couches facing the garden and sea, as well as a magnificent antique low table, created from an old wooden boat, complete with six chairs. On the other side of this level is an open-air deck, with a frangipani tree growing through the floor. Walls and ceilings in this building are lined with bamboo.

Swimming Pool Area

The freeform 20-metre swimming pool is lined with green Java stone, and bordered by an ironwood deck furnished with over-sized rattan sun beds and umbrellas. It employs a low-to-no chemical ozone system that is soft on the earth and gentle on the skin. There is a large poolside lounge area here with connecting second pool dining area with kitchen and sitting area – ideal for leisure breakfasts, lunches, afternoon tea and sunset gatherings. It also doubles as a yoga/martial arts studio. Two `bales` or relaxation pavilions are in this area for therapeutic massages that can be arranged with some of the best masseurs on the island.

Garden

The enchanting garden meanders down to the swimming pool and beach, via stone pathways. The rolling lawns are dotted with palms and punctuated with lily ponds and lanterns, fragrant flowering trees and giant taro leaves, creating a stunning garden of peace, `Taman Ahimsa,`where one can discover spaces created for retreat.

Massage Bale

In a corner of the garden, immediately beside the beach, is a delightful elevated massage pavilion with antique wooden paneling, originally an old Javanese Joglo. This is one of several spots for a therapeutic massage, which can be arranged with a Balinese healer.

Bedrooms

5 bedrooms occupy the first and second floors of the main house. Each one boasts a king size bed kitted out in crisp, white cotton. Billowing mosquito nets hang from the ceiling adding a touch of that Oriental mystique. At night, black out curtains deliver endless hours of uninterrupted sleep.

Each room also has a day bed for massages or afternoon lounging. For those seeking a little solitude, a door at the back of four of the bedrooms leads to a small reading room, complete with comfy chair and traditional carpet. An open library on the first floor landing allows more sociable readers to compare notes on the latest bestseller.

Subdued tones and minimalist modern sculptures create a sense of calm and ensure that nothing distracts from the stunning views beyond the French windows. To sample the fresh Bali air, guests can simply step onto the large and shady balcony that wraps around each floor, slip into a chair and put their feet up.

Indoor Dining

The dining table at Villa Bulan Putih seats 16 people, making it a clear gathering point for social chat and gastronomic indulgence.
Guests looking for something a little special can invite renowned chefs to prepare a meal just for them. A back kitchen is used for preparation, while the open front kitchen gives chefs the chance to showcase their art.

Outdoor Dining

An oversized 3.5m outdoor dining table means guests can take their meals in the garden. This is a popular choice in the evening when the lights of Seminyak and Legian provide a glittering backdrop over the ocean.

Pool and Garden Area

Much of everyday life in Bali goes on outdoors and Villa Bulan Putih’s garden is the jewel in its crown. Oh so fashionable water features are filled with water lilies and fish for good fortune. The garden’s extensive flat lawn is an island rarity and the views make time spent here unforgettable.

The focus of the garden is the 17 metre pool with infinity edge. A large sunbathing deck allows bathers to recline in two inches of water, soaking up the rays while keeping cool. In the evening, guests can indulge in a glass of bubbly while being massaged by the nimble jets of water in the Jacuzzi.

Two orbit chairs and eight sun loungers with umbrellas are scattered around the pool area. A traditional bale provides shade in the heat of the day or a welcome resting area for massages or evening cocktails.

Villa Bulan Putih is fully equipped with state-of-the-art audio and visual equipment including a home theatre system with 37’’ LCD TV, the full range of international satellite channles and DVD player. Internet facilities are also available.

The Balinese are known as the hosts with the most and guests at Villa Bulan Putih will be lavished with traditional hospitality from start to finish. A full time team of eight friendly and discreet staff are on hand to keep the house spick and span and ensure your every whim is indulged.

Dining

A sumptuous breakfast of fruit, locally produced yoghurt, pancakes, toast and eggs is served every day and is included in the daily rate. Other food & beverages can easily be arrange by the Villa Manager and the Chef, your food request can be given in the morning (see terms & conditions). There is also a Villa menu for culinary ideas.

Other meals can be selected in advance from our tempting menu of international favourites and local specialities, from Penne Pomodoro to Nasi Campur. Ingredients are bought fresh every day and meals are whipped up in the villa by our talented chef and his team.

Everyone loves a barbie on a balmy evening, and many guests choose to take advantage of the villa’s top-of-the-range gas barbeque. Chicken, lamb, steak and fresh seafood can be brought from the international local deli’s, whilst fresh seafood can be found at the market in Jimbaran and dished up with a refreshing salad.

Terms & Conditions

• Children under the age of ten are not permitted on the top level of the villa.
• Children who are unable must wear a water detection band or flotation aid as provided by the villa.

• To secure a booking, a 50% deposit is required within 5 days after confirmation. US$ 200 cancellation charge will be applied for cancellation within 90 days before arrival. One night cancellation charge will be applied for cancellation within 60 days before arrival. Two nights cancellation charge will be applied for cancellation within 45 days before arrival.
• This policy does not apply for high season months, when cancellation is made within 30 days prior to arrival date, all deposit paid is to cover cancellation charge.
• Grocery money must be provided by guests for any food & beverage requests. When Villa staff purchase the food, all bills are subject to a 10% service charge

Notice of cancellation must be received by Villa Management in writing.

Liability

• The Management Company will not accept responsibility for any injury, sickness, loss, damage, additional expense or inconvenience, directly or indirectly caused by or arising out of the use of the property, plumbing, gas, electrical or otherwise, and exceptional weather conditions. Further, no responsibility is accepted for the personal belongings, car, and its contents of the hirer or any member of the party during the holiday.
• All clients will be asked to sign a Waiver of Liability.
• Be aware that for larger groups a security deposit may be requested. If required, a deposit will be requested by the villa manager on arrival and will be refunded in full on the day of departure, unless damages/repairs need to be performed, in which case refunds will be made, less the cost of damages.

Numbers in Party / Suitability

The numbers of persons occupying a property must not exceed the maximum number stated in the booking confirmation. The Management Company reserves the right to refuse any booking, which, in its opinion, is unsuitable for the property concerned.

Damage or Losses

The hirer is responsible for leaving the property in good order and in a clean condition. The hirer further undertakes to pay for any damages or losses incurred during occupation. The Management Company reserves the right to repossess the property if the hirer or a member of the party has caused excessive damage.

Events and Parties

• Normal bookings are for vacation purposes and special permissions must be obtained for functions where the number of people in attendance exceeds 150% of the capacity of the villa.
• If you are planning to hold an event such as a wedding or any large congregation of people in the villa it would be best to bring this to The Management Company’s attention as soon as possible.
• Please be aware that normally The Management Company will not accept a booking involving a function without prior confirmation that a function coordinator has been employed. The Management Company can recommend a suitable coordinator where required.
• The Management Company have rules governing villa usage for events and parties and a surcharge of up to the equivalent of a night’s rental price is applicable, in addition to a local community (‘Banjar’) fee.
