I get asked this question a lot, and it’s a tough one to answer because it all depends on you. When it comes to calculating the cost of a wedding in Bali, the sky can be the limit. You can have a small beach wedding ceremony from $1,000 or have a luxurious Villa ceremony and reception at a whopping $40,000. The good news? It’s a lot more affordable to marry in Bali than most western countries by far. So while this question is not an easy question to answer and varies from couple to couple, I have tried to outline below the four main factors that determine the cost of a Bali wedding.

The Venue

If you’re planing on having your wedding in a 5 star luxury resort or extravagant private Villa then it’s going to come at a cost. While there are high end wedding venues that offer great value for money the general rule of thumb is the more luxurious the venue is the more your wedding will cost. What is important is for your expectations to be realistic in comparison to your budget. A good wedding planner will be able to recommend a number of different venues to match your budget and they’ll be able to point out the pro’s and con’s of each venue in order for you to make the right choice.

The Vendors

If you want the very best photographer on the island expect to pay a significant amount more for their services than the average cost of a Bali wedding photographer. Like luxury Villas and Resorts the general rule of thumb is the higher quality the vendor the more they will charge. It is also important to remember that although Bali has a lot of vendor options to choose from the best value for money vendors are usually the most popular so their services can be booked out more than a year in advance.

The Guests

If all you’re planning is a simple Bali wedding ceremony then the number of guests you’re inviting won’t effect your budget all that much, although most wedding packages include chairs and welcome drinks for a set number of guests it is possible to increase numbers with out breaking the bank. What will effect your overall budget will be your reception dinner if you decide to have one. With every additional guest you invite, your costs will increase to cover table decorations, wedding favors and most importantly food and beverages. It just adds up.

The Time

Bali is a tourist destination and because of this flights and accommodation prices can vary through out the year. Most villas that cater for weddings and events not only increase their accommodation prices during high and peak season but they also increase the minimum number of nights you’re required to stay. This can take a significant bite out of a wedding budget and will often at times cause couples to rethink their preferred wedding date. Weddings held in Hotels and Resorts also see an increase in accommodation prices during this time how ever the increase in cost is not as drastic as private Villas.
